by Emilie Loiselle, Bar Manager Bar Swift Shoreditch
Serving Glass: martini (or stemmed coupette).
Garnishes: lemon twist.
Recipe:
1.25 oz / 37.5 ml fino sherry
1.00 oz / 30ml rosé vermouth (Cocchi Americano Rosa)
1 tsp / 5 ml Simple Syrup (1:1)
2 dashes Bittered Sling Lem-Marrakech bitters
How to prepare: Pour all the ingredients in a mixing glass. Fill with ice, stir for 20 seconds. Using a julep strainer, strain your cocktail into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
Flavour Profile: floral / dry / peppery
Inspiration: Inspired after the classic bamboo. This version is rounder and has more body, but remains light, aromatic and puts forward the fresh and bright notes of fino sherry, complemented by the floral elements of rosé vermouth and a hint of pepper from the bitters for a long finish. This cocktail is elegant and complex while still being deceptively simple. It is sure to be a hit with all your guests! A low abv tipple, perfect as an aperitif to any night of celebration.
Batching / group party tips: This cocktail is better enjoyed when made on demand for each guest. However, up to three portions will fit into a standard mixing glass.
The bitters work well because…. Lem-Marrakech is a wonderfully versatile bitter perfect for enhancing the bright citrusy notes while providing a lovely bitter and peppery base to add complexity and depth and allow the flavours to last on the palate.
