01 Dec Yule be Awake
We just love the festive spin on the “Canadian Coffee”, featuring some tasty flavours that we can associate with more than the Canadian, cold North. Try switching out the sweetener, coffee and bitters for a new spin each time. Remember, it’s unnecessary to add sugar to the whipped cream, it works perfectly in balance with other ingredients. Sub for whipped coconut cream for dairy-free, and Seedlip Spice for the whisky for zero-proof.
1.50 oz | 45 ml Lot 40 Canadian Rye Whisky
0.75 oz | 20 ml maple syrup
4.00 oz | 120 ml hot, brewed coffee
2 dashes Bittered Sling Moondog Latin Aromatic Bitters
0.25 oz | 10 ml heavy cream, lightly whipped
Crushed cacao nibs, and grated cinnamon, for garnish.
Add the whisky, maple, coffee and bitters in a small, thin specialty coffee glass (or mug of preference!). Top with the whipped cream. Garnish with cocoa nibs and grated nutmeg. This is delicious piping hot, and yule surely be awake (and don’t call me Shirley).
