28 Oct Zero Proof Cocktail: Lady Grey
1.00 oz (30mL) Lemon Juice
1.00 oz (30mL) Lavender Flower Syrup*
4.00 oz (120mL) Freshly brewed (cold) Earl Grey Tea
2 dashes Bittered Sling Orange & Juniper Bitters
Build ingredients in a collins glass filled with ice. Add the cold tea, stir gently (swizzle) and garnish with lemon slice.
*Syrup, Lavender Flower:
makes 1.00L (1 Quart)
40g dried blue lavender buds
400g white sugar
Smash all the flowers with a mallet or muddler in a dry heat proof vessel until they are broken, fragrant and release their colour. Boil water, add to flowers and stir gently only twice around. The liquid should be bright purple. Strain immediately, and add sugar to the colourful water. Stir to dissolve sugar, and allow to cool. Keep dated and refrigerated up to 7-10 days.
